Behind the scenes

In 2020, Jo Newsholme had a vision of creating a collective of people who could work on creative audio and video projects, bringing in collaborators from a diverse range of backgrounds across the UK, as and when needed for projects. The idea sat in the back of Jo’s mind until she met her wing woman Joanna Tonge. Jo and Joanna did their first collective work together as Mighty Mouth Productions, creating a radio programme and podcast for FunKids radio, and winning a Silver ARIA award and British Podcast Award nomination in the process. That project allowed Jo and Joanna to test out collaborating on a project with a young, diverse assistant producer and a sound designer from another UK nation. They knew then that the seeds of Manchester Creatives had been born and they could expand their network to other videographers, animators, producers and creatives across Manchester and beyond.
